Announcement Regarding Harvard University Contract

On Friday, President Trump indicated that an announcement about a contract with Harvard University, specifically concerning international student policies, is expected within the week.

“Many have inquired about what’s happening with Harvard’s significant misconduct that we’ve been addressing,” Trump shared. “We’ve been in close discussions with Harvard, and it seems likely that we’ll have news next week.”

The president acknowledged Harvard’s administration for their commitment to negotiate properly, stating they “acted very well” throughout. He remarked that if a settlement is reached based on current discussions, it would be “historically significant” and beneficial for the nation.

In related developments, a federal judge, Alison Burrows, issued a preliminary injunction, allowing Harvard to maintain its international student program despite Trump’s executive order. This decision is viewed as a substantial victory for Ivy League institutions that have contested various restrictions imposed by the administration. The temporary order will remain until the case is fully resolved.

Harvard has filed a lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), contesting attempts to cancel its Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP). The university argues that this move is part of a broader pattern of retaliation against its academic freedoms.

Legal representatives have asserted that such measures violate the university’s rights and the First Amendment, which protects their ability to speak freely without fear of negative repercussions. The order specifies that cancellations cannot adversely affect any visa applications or be used as a basis for denying entry into the United States.

Harvard has not yet responded to requests for comment regarding this situation.
