Harvey Weinstein Asks to Sleep in Hospital, Citing Prison ‘Mistreatment’

NEW YORK (AFP) – Attorneys for Harvey Weinstein were allowed to spend the night in the hospital during a retrial on rape charges, saying the film’s health is rapidly deteriorating due to “abuse” at New York’s infamous Rikers prison.

In a paper filed in court, the lawyer said Weinstein, 73, was not receiving care in prison while suffering from many “serious medical conditions” including leukemia, diabetes, thyroid problems, obesity, back pain, sciatica and other health tragedy.

“He has been consistently abused due to a serious infection, and the medicine is not wrong or given at all. He has experienced unhealthy and atypical weight gain and he is forced to withstand freezing temperatures while being offered clean clothes,” said lawyer Imran Ansari.

All this justifies justification for justifying Weinstein’s transfer to Bellevue Hospital. He has already been employed in recent months for emergency medical care, the lawyer said.

Weinstein returned to court after his 2020 conviction by the Ju Court last year was overturned by the Court of Appeals.

The invalidation of the ju appellate verdict by the New York Court of Appeals was a set-off to survivors of the #MeToo movement for sexual violence and promotion of justice for them.

Appearing weak, Weinstein attends a wheelchair retrial, and his lawyer repeatedly complains that he is not receiving proper medical care in prison.

Located in the East River between the Bronx and Queens borough, Riker’s Island Prison has long been a reputation for overcrowding, unsanitary conditions and violence.

Famous prisoners include John Lennon’s killer Mark David Chapman, rapper Tupac Shakur, Sid Vicious, Sex Pistols musician and former IMF chief Dominique Strauss Khan.

The conviction has been overturned

The former Miramax Studio boss was charged with sexual assault on former production assistant Mimi Harrye in 2006, rape of aspiring actress Jessica Man in 2013, and a new count of sexual assault on a Manhattan hotel in 2006.

In 2020, a New Yorker ju-death detainee discovered Weinstein, who was found guilty of two of five charges, including Harryye’s sexual assault and Mann’s rape.

However, his conviction and 23 years in prison were overturned in April 2024.

The New York Court of Appeals ruled that in four or three heatedly debated decisions, Harvey Weinstein should not hear the victim’s testimony about sexual assaults that were not charged.

Since his fall, Weinstein has been accused of harassment, sexually assaulting or raping by more than 80 women, including actors Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow, Lupita Nyongo and Ashley Judd.

Weinstein has never admitted to fraud and has always maintained that the encounter is agreed.

The accuser describes the film mogul as a predator who used his perches on the film industry, often putting pressure on actors and assistants in hotel rooms.

By Wednesday, 12 ju umpires had been selected, which required 12 ju umpires, which also did not include the six required alternatives.

Dozens of ju judges have shown that they cannot give Weinstein a fair trial because of what they know about the case.

Judge Curtis Farber concluded his ju judge’s choice this week, saying he would like to allow the trial to proceed fully next Monday or Tuesday.
