Platner Responds to New Allegations
“The Story with Martha McCallum” has shared the latest regarding Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner, who has released a video addressing new sexual assault allegations made by his ex-girlfriend.
Progressive figure Hasan Piker anticipates a “back-and-forth” for Platner following the serious allegations that surfaced. Piker, known for his leftist views and popularity on Twitch, reacted strongly while discussing claims from Jenny Racicot, Platner’s ex, during a live stream of a Politico article.
He expressed alarm upon discovering that Politico had interviewed another man who dated Racicot post-incident. This man reportedly had confided in her and warned Platner about engaging with Racicot even before Platner embarked on his political journey.
Serious Allegations Impact Platner’s Campaign
Piker shared, “Those are curtains.” He referred to the situation as a “trifecta” of credible claims, including personal testimonies from Platner’s acquaintances and information from a therapist, stating, “I believe this accusation. I believe this allegation.”
Intensifying Scrutiny on Platner’s Campaign
In response to the unfolding situation, other liberal media outlets are questioning Platner’s viability as a candidate. MS NOW host Luke Russert remarked that if the allegations hold truth, it would be difficult for Platner to remain in the race.
Also, Tim Miller from Bulwark criticized Platner’s recent video, noting that the campaign’s response of “taking time to reflect” is insufficient. He urged, “Either campaign vigorously with the falsehoods, or tell the truth and apologize.”
Jon Favreau, co-host of Pod Save America, stated, “Mr. Platner needs to step down immediately. These are terrible, credible allegations. It’s clear he’s not honest about his past.” He emphasized the importance of resigning by the 13th for the party to have ample time to locate a successor.
As of now, Platner’s campaign has not issued a statement in response to inquiries regarding these serious claims.
