Hasan Piker supports Ilhan Omar's campaign partnership despite criticism from Democrats.

Far-left streamer Hasan Piker recently avoided addressing his controversial past during an interaction with Fox News Digital, right after he co-hosted an event with Rep. Ilhan Omar, a Democrat from Minnesota, in her home state. During the event, he dismissed disagreements with Democratic leaders, even after he labeled Republicans as “terrorists” and Omar described the GOP as the “pedophile protection party” in a livestream the day before.

Omar’s partnership with Piker raises some eyebrows, especially considering her own political struggles, including an FBI raid on her home amid investigations into alleged immigration fraud and issues with her financial disclosures, which could potentially jeopardize her political career and citizenship.

This appearance comes in the wake of criticism that Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed faced from his party for also campaigning with Piker earlier in the election cycle.

After their livestream, Fox News Digital confronted Piker at the Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport. During the exchange, he was challenged on the backlash from fellow Minnesota Democrats Angie Craig and Amy Klobuchar, who condemned his remarks and questioned their party’s decision to engage with him on the campaign trail.

Piker responded, noting, “Well, Angie Craig lost, and I think Klobuchar is going to make for a great governor.”

Both Klobuchar and Craig had been critical of Piker, with Klobuchar calling his past statements “reckless and unacceptable,” while Craig labeled his rhetoric “polarizing and dangerous,” and stated that hosting Piker was a “mistake.” When asked if their concerns were valid, Piker brushed it off as “the beauty of democracy,” expressing that disagreements within the party are normal.

Then he added, almost cheekily, “I know this is probably going to come across as confusing, because you work for Fox News, but we sometimes disagree with our leadership in the Democratic Party. And sometimes our leadership disagrees with us.” He concluded by stating that this diversity of thought is what democracy is about.

The situation surrounding Omar’s choice to publicly support Piker, especially with the midterms just around the corner, highlights a rift among Minnesota Democrats. Some question whether it’s wise to align with Piker to engage his large, progressive youth base despite his controversial remarks.

During the exchange, Piker was pressed about past comments regarding Jewish people and Israel, for which he faced accusations of antisemitism. He characterized Jewish Americans as inviting violence upon themselves due to their support for Israel, yet he maintained that anti-Zionism is distinct from antisemitism. “I will always fight against antisemitism and I find all bigotry to be morally repugnant and completely unacceptable,” he stated, standing firm against any allegations regarding his views on Israel.

It was after those comments led to significant backlash, even from notable Democrats like House Minority Leader Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, that El-Sayed found himself distancing from Piker after having previously shared the stage with him.

Interestingly, when asked about a past remark suggesting America “deserved 9/11,” Piker declined to answer, instead moving through airport security without responding.

During their joint event, both Piker and Omar criticized former President Donald Trump, with Omar focusing on his “obsession” with Minnesotans, while Piker criticized Democrats for allowing Trump to dominate immigration discussions in the past elections.

Omar is up for reelection and is expected to win, even as she faces scrutiny over ongoing investigations into immigration fraud and dubious financial records. The investigations intensified following a raid on her home, with references made to her by different names in court documents. Omar maintains that her name is Ilhan Abdullahi Omar and denies any wrongdoing, alleging that the actions against her are politically charged.
