A NEW LEVEL OF STUPID

Hasan Piker, along with several left-leaning organizations like Code Pink, is currently under federal investigation for possibly functioning as an unregistered foreign agent. This scrutiny partly stems from a recent subpoena he received related to a “humanitarian aid” trip he made to Cuba.

Typically, when someone faces such an investigation, they might consult a lawyer. The general consensus? It’s best to stay quiet for a bit. If they have the resources, they might even seek advice from public relations firms on how to manage public statements. In most cases, this results in proclamations of innocence mixed with claims of being targeted politically or facing a “witch hunt.” Some, more opportunistically, then ask for donations or subscriptions, you know, that kind of thing.

Smart people tend to follow this route.

However, Piker decided to livestream and lay out the foreign funding details that investigators would presumably be digging into.

This raises the question: who is Roy Singham? He’s a tech billionaire turned Marxist who moved to China and has funded some rather controversial leftist activism in the U.S. You could think of him as a sort of Chinese equivalent to George Soros. It’s one thing for a detached observer to speculate about Piker’s disclosures, but quite another when someone directly involved in this funding describes the (alleged) foreign influence they are part of.

Of course, it’s not surprising that well-known broadcasters sometimes make questionable comments. For instance, Katy Tur, who pulls in around $4 million annually at MSDNC, recently pondered seriously whether the belief that rights come from “our creator” somehow places God above the Declaration of Independence.

And this isn’t isolated. Talented personalities in broadcast journalism can still be quite misguided. They might even get their networks into significant legal trouble, as evidenced by previous events involving figures like Charlie Kirk and Donald Trump.

Yet, it seems quite unprecedented for someone under federal investigation to openly provide a detailed outline that could allow inquiries to expand significantly.

So, congratulations, Hasan, you’ve certainly reached a new level of foolishness.
