Hawaiian Airlines’ updated policy could increase travel costs.

Hawaiian Airlines Implements New “No-Show” Policy

A few days ago, Hawaiian Airlines rolled out a new “no-show” policy that could result in financial losses for travelers.

This policy, announced last Thursday, addresses situations where customers with confirmed bookings miss their flights. In such cases, Hawaiian Airlines stated, “We will cancel your flight booking and all continuation and return flights.”

Moreover, those who don’t show up will lose the value of money or miles spent on non-refundable tickets. This means they won’t be able to use those funds for future flights.

The airline encourages passengers to adjust their bookings online or reach out by calling 1-800-367-5320 to avoid forfeiting fares tied to non-refundable tickets.

On their website, Hawaiian Airlines acknowledges that “life will happen.” If someone is already at the airport and misses their flight, they can seek assistance from a customer service agent at the kiosk or check-in counter.

This new policy applies universally to non-refundable tickets purchased in the U.S., and it doesn’t provide exceptions for Hawaiian Miles or Mileage Plan Elite Members.

As Hawaiian Airlines was acquired by Alaska Airlines in September 2024, both airlines now follow a unified policy regarding no-show passengers, as confirmed by a spokesperson in an email. They explained, “We can provide guests with a more consistent travel experience to those who book on flights that combine global networks, in line with a single industry standard policy.”
