Trae Young shouldn't expect a friendly reception in New York anytime soon.
The Hawks point guard renewed his role as the Knicks' opponent Wednesday night in a postgame interview on the court at State Farm Arena.
After the Knicks lost 121-116 to the Hawks, Young took it upon himself to rub salt in the wounds of New Yorkers who attended the game.
“I hope the fans in New York get to the exits really quickly.” Young said with a laugh..
The comment drew cheers from the home crowd.
“Boo, welcome back everyone,” he added, drawing a laugh from the interviewer.
Young scored 23 points against the Knicks on Wednesday, making 7 of 23 field goals and missing 3 of 9 3-pointers.
The young persona of the Knicks public enemy No. 1 goes back to the 2021 NBA Playoffs, when the Knicks faced the Hawks in the first round, and the star point guard averaged 29.2 points per game in five games. He led Atlanta to a series victory. His shooting percentage was 44.1 percent.

Knicks fans chanted “Fk Trae Young!” Since then, whether Young has been at Madison Square Garden or not.
