It’s been over 75 years since Joseph McCarthy made one of his most contentious remarks. Blaze TV host Steve Deace now argues that history vindicates his stance.
In a speech delivered in 1950, McCarthy made a distinction between average Democratic voters and a minority he claimed were collaborating with Communist elements to manipulate the party.
“Today, we see two categories of Democrats,” McCarthy asserted. “First, there are millions of loyal Americans who have supported the Democratic ticket. They are just as devoted to America as the average Republican and despise Communism equally.”
“Conversely, there’s a small, tightly-knit group of regime Democrats who are entirely controlled by the bureaucratic communist entity they’ve helped create,” he elaborated.
“To label them as Democrats is offensive to the millions of faithful American Democrats. They should be called Communists,” he insisted.
Deace contends that McCarthy was not mistaken—just ahead of his time. “He was right. Essentially, he’s saying not all Democrats are communists, but all communists seem to align with the Democratic Party. You’ve been able to echo this for the last couple of decades,” Aaron McIntyre concurred.
“It’s hard to gauge how apparent it is now, since these individuals operate both in the shadows and quite brazenly. They prefer self-identifying as ‘socialists’ to appear more moderate,” he remarked.
“They adopt terms like ‘Solidarians’—and sure, that previous statement from a New York figure that ‘Solidarity means abolishing ICE’—but, at their core, they’re just communists. That’s why McCarthy was somewhat prophetic.”
