Update on President Trump’s Health
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt offered an update regarding President Donald Trump’s health on Thursday.
Images showing Trump’s bandaged hands and swollen legs have raised concerns about his well-being. During a press conference, Leavitt read a letter from Trump’s physician, informing reporters that the president has undergone physical examinations and has chronic venous deficiency (CVI), yet is in good health.
“The president completed extensive exams, including diagnostic vascular studies and bilateral lower extremity intravenous Doppler ultrasound, which identified chronic venous deficiency, a common and generally harmless condition, particularly in individuals over 70 years old,” Leavitt mentioned. “The president remains healthy,” she reiterated.
In a tweet, it was stated that the “minor bruises” on Trump’s hands were due to “soft tissue stimulation” caused by frequent handshaking and aspirin use.
Earlier in April, Trump had met with a doctor following some physical events early in his term. He weighed 224 pounds, had a blood pressure reading of 128/74, and displayed a resting pulse rate of 62, scoring a perfect 30 on cognitive tests.
As per the memo, Trump was prescribed two medications involving aspirin, one as a topical treatment for a skin condition and the other as a precautionary measure.
Amidst this, the president’s health has received heightened scrutiny over the past year, particularly following a debate performance where many Democrats became uneasy about former President Joe Biden’s capabilities. This debate led to calls for Biden to withdraw from the presidential race. Media outlets have since focused on how Biden’s health has been portrayed during his time in office.
Before the debate, it was reported that Biden had made 148 mistakes during public appearances between January and April 2024.
