‘Heaven is the stopover’: Wes Huff reveals the reality of bodily resurrection

Understanding Bodily Resurrection in Christianity

The concept of bodily resurrection and eternity often gets misunderstood in Christian teachings. Many assume that being a Christian simply means “going to heaven” after death.

Theologian Wes Huff aims to clarify this perspective during a discussion with Blaze TV host Allie Beth Stuckey.

“It’s a sign of recovery, Allie,” remarks Wes regarding the notion of “physical resurrection.”

“When Jesus states, ‘I make all things new’ in Revelation, it’s indicative of a promise. It signifies that the world wasn’t originally created the way we see it now, and it was intended for good,” he explains to Stuckey.

Huff highlights the recurring phrase “it’s good” found throughout the Bible, which serves as a reminder that while the world is tainted by sin, it was created for more than just that.

“It will be restored. We will witness how God revives everything,” he asserts.

On the subject of heaven, Huff notes, “We often view heaven as the ultimate destination.” He elaborates that there’s a tendency to think of death as a means to escape the struggles of life, echoing ancient pagan beliefs. Instead, he argues for a resurrection that encompasses a complete renewal of creation.

God’s creations—like the sunrise, oceans, and mountains—are envisioned to revert to their intended glory.

“We’ll again find wonder in the mountains, stars, oceans, and valleys. These elements will continue to amaze us because God is restoring us in His body, perhaps akin to what we have now but far superior,” explains Huff.

“Heaven is more like a layover—a pleasant one—but not the end point,” he concludes.
