Rep. Warren Davidson (R-Ohio) said during an appearance on the show that Pete Hegseth is “the person we need to lead the Department of Defense.” Breitbart News Dailyin contrast to President Biden's Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, who “believes climate change is the greatest threat to national security.”
Davidson said part of his role in the confirmation process for President-elect Trump's nominees is peer pressure and “trying to influence the senators involved.” [and] You know, we're trying to find out who the senator is who is holding back. ”
As an example, Davidson, a former Army Ranger, pointed to Wednesday's promotion of Pete Hegseth.
“He's the kind of person we need to lead the Pentagon. …Pete Hegseth is a retired Army veteran who led front-line infantry units in combat and has always talked about how to keep the military focused on combat missions. Davidson said, comparing Hegseth and Austin.
“And now we have a secretary named Lloyd Austin who thinks the biggest threat to national security is climate change, and he walks around talking about Chairman Milley of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. “We're talking about big risks and all kinds of woke policies, and that's, you know, why Biden and Obama chose these kinds of people,” he observed.
“And how do we get our military back to a lean, mean fighting organization focused on fighting and winning wars, and get back a State Department that can actually say no to some of that? And I think Pete Hegseth checks both of those boxes. Yes, if we have to win a war, we're going to go into it and win it. But like Dwight Eisenhower once did in Korea, he, you know, goes to every war he's invited to. He said there was no need to participate,” Davidson said.
