Helen Mirren has addressed reports regarding her co-star Tom Hardy’s absence from Mobland, following claims of on-set tensions. On Thursday, the Oscar-winning actress posted a picture of Hardy on Instagram with the caption: “I love you now and always Helen.”
Her message seemed to convey support for Hardy after sources revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that he would not return to the series. Allegations emerged that Hardy “refused to come out of his trailer for hours” during filming.
One insider mentioned that Hardy “kept the cast waiting” while calling his behavior a “power play,” suggesting that it would be detrimental to his career to cause issues for veterans like Pierce Brosnan and Mirren.
Furthermore, a report from Variety detailed that Hardy requested script rewrites, citing delays from series co-creator Jez Butterworth, who would sometimes provide scripts just a week before filming began, limiting Hardy’s preparation.
It’s been said that Hardy prefers to thoroughly prepare, and another source indicated that his input is usually valid, but Butterworth seems unable to address Hardy’s suggestions, creating tension. Although one production source described Hardy as “difficult,” they acknowledged, “But he’s a movie star.”
