An outraged North Carolina sheriff slams the Biden-Harris administration's proposal to provide survivors of Hurricane Helen with $750 in “immediate” relief, calling it a pittance compared to what they gave to Ukraine. They argued that it was not necessary for the residents to access the internet, and that access to the internet was necessary (a worst-case scenario for residents). There are no hit areas yet.
“That woman running for president is talking about $750. Hey, you to Ukraine and other people who are seriously trying to kill us but don't want to do anything to help us.” What happens to that money that you give? Why don't you give it to them? They're the ones you want to give it to in the first place,” Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright said in a video posted to X on Tuesday. he told Fox News contributor Sarah Carter.
Carter, who conducted the interviews without an Internet connection in Chimney Rock, North Carolina, and later uploaded them to X, said many people she spoke to were turned away for $750.
Mr. Wright replied: Don’t you see what the devastation is? They don't have phones or computers! ”
Carter said, “There's nothing here, no phones, no communications. I'll post this later, but there's no way to access the internet unless you have Starlink net.”
“Thank you, Elon Musk,” Wright added.
More than 255,000 customers across the Southeast remain without power, Breitbart News reported Monday.
Wright said his message to the Biden-Harris White House is to “stay away.”
“If you're going to do what you're going to do, we're going to get you out of the way right away and let the good men and women around the mountain range and foothills take care of themselves. Leave it to me. It's just the anchor of the boat,” he said.
To former President Donald Trump, he said: “Come quickly, President Donald Trump, we need you. We need you.”
The Biden-Harris administration announced last week that Americans affected by Hurricane Helen could apply online for $750 for emergency needs, an amount that is larger than the $8 billion announced for Ukraine just days earlier. This sparked criticism that the amount was tiny compared to the US dollar.
The Biden-Harris administration has since maintained that Americans can apply for help to repair damage to homes and personal property caused by the storm, as well as help finding temporary housing.
On October 4, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced To date, it has provided $45 million in disaster relief, including $23 million to Floridians, $17 million to North Carolina, and $4.5 million to South Carolina.
