Forbes reports that an elite group of Americans—including entrepreneurs, investors, and heirs—holds immense wealth, totaling around $2 trillion across all states. That’s a significant jump, about $400 billion more than last year’s estimates.
At the forefront of this 54-member list is Elon Musk from Texas, boasting a staggering net worth of $388 billion. Musk, the mind behind Tesla and SpaceX, remains the wealthiest individual globally.
Next is Jeff Bezos, the Amazon founder based in Florida, with a net worth of $200 billion. Mark Zuckerberg, who started Facebook, ranks third at $189 billion.
From New York, former mayor Michael Bloomberg has amassed a fortune of $100 billion, making him the state’s wealthiest resident.
John Overdeck, co-founder of Two Sigma Investments, is the richest person in New Jersey with a net worth of $7.4 billion.

Interestingly, two-thirds of the nation’s billionaires are located in just four states: California (with 194), New York (137), Florida (116), and Texas (81).
On the flip side, some states—like Alabama, Idaho, and Vermont—are home to only a single billionaire each. Meanwhile, Alaska, Delaware, and West Virginia surprisingly have no billionaires at all.
The wealth range is pretty stark too; Jonathan Rubini, a real estate mogul from Alaska, and Leonard Hyde, also worth around $400 million, represent the extremes.
