Tragic Shooting at Oregon Elementary School

Authorities in Bend, Oregon, have identified the man who intervened during a tragic shooting at Silver Rail Elementary School, which resulted in the deaths of three children and a teacher. The individual is 36-year-old Kaylub Gianmarco, as confirmed by a law enforcement source.

During a press conference on Friday, police identified the teacher who lost her life as 25-year-old Meghan Lambert. They also revealed that the youngest victim was just 5-year-old Rhoam Summer.

“Meghan was compassionate and had a huge heart. She always fought for the underdog and those with special needs. She was an incredible sister, daughter, niece, and granddaughter. Her friends became her family,” said Lambert’s family in a statement shared at the conference.

Earlier in the day, Kenda Freeman stated that her son, Gianmarco, took action during the attack and shot the gunman, according to The Associated Press. Kaylub Gianmarco, who is a local carpenter, also has two daughters enrolled at Silver Rail, as shared by his brother Kyle with NBC News.

Kyle mentioned that his brother is understandably shaken by the incident and is not ready to speak publicly at this time.

In their statement, Lambert’s family expressed gratitude towards Gianmarco for intervening, stating, “We want the bystander who intervened to know we know he is going through a rough time, but we are grateful, and we think he is a hero. You selflessly put yourself at risk for others.” They also extended their thoughts and prayers to the families affected by the tragedy, noting, “Megan loved those children and so we will show you love for her.”

Three students, aged 5, 8, and 11, tragically lost their lives in the shooting.
