High inflation is costing Americans an extra $1K a month

Inflation is picking up steam again, forcing the average American to spend even more on everyday necessities.

“Inflation is not only stalling, it’s heading in the wrong direction,” said Lisa Sturtevant, chief economist at Bright MLS.

The Labor Department said Wednesday that the consumer price index, which measures the price of daily necessities including gasoline, food and rent, rose by 0.4.% From last month to March. Prices rose 3.5% year-on-year, exceeding the 3.2% recorded in February.

Credit card debt soared to an all-time high at the end of December, according to recent data from the New York Fed.
