High School Football Coach Arrested Over Allegations of Sexual Abuse

A married high school football coach has been arrested following allegations from a former student that they had a sexual relationship that began years ago—when she was just 16 years old and babysitting his children.

Nicholas Alan Codutti, 43, was taken into custody on Saturday after the now 24-year-old woman reported the relationship, which started in 2018 while she was a student at Tomball High School. According to court documents, the relationship escalated after Codutti, who was her strength and conditioning coach, began sharing explicit photos with her.

As the situation developed, she began babysitting for Codutti and his wife at their home, where, the allegations state, the sexual encounters began. Since 16 is below the age of consent in Texas—where it is set at 17—this marks a significant legal issue.

Reports indicate that the encounters took place in various locations, including a coach’s office at school and a gym’s weight room, as well as off-campus during lunch breaks. Their first alleged sexual encounter reportedly occurred in February 2019 and continued until around September 2025, stretching into the accuser’s adulthood. She decided to come forward after disclosing the incidents to her therapist.

As a result of the allegations, Codutti is facing charges of felony indecency with a child and sexual performance by a child. He was booked into Harris County Jail, with a bond set at $100,000—$50,000 for each charge.

Following his arrest, he managed to post bond the next day and was released, with a court appearance scheduled for later this week. His attorney, Ryan Fremuth, stated that they are asserting his innocence and denied any claims of child abuse. He additionally requested that the privacy of Codutti’s family be respected during this challenging time, noting that the coach has been barred from schools and any areas where children congregate, except for his own children.

Codingturely, Codutti had been the head football coach and athletic coordinator at Klein High School since January 2025. However, he was placed on administrative leave in May after the allegations surfaced. The school district issued a letter to families acknowledging the criminal charges related to incidents that allegedly occurred during his employment elsewhere, prior to working at Klein. They confirmed that upon learning of the allegations, they acted swiftly to ensure the safety of their students.

Despite passing necessary background checks and garnering positive references prior to his hiring, Klein ISD asserted that they had no prior knowledge of the conduct that led to the current charges. The district emphasized their commitment to student safety and the seriousness with which they treat any allegations involving employees in positions of trust.

As the situation unfolds, Tomball ISD has yet to respond to requests for comments regarding the matter.
