Minnesota High School Girls Hockey Coach Unfairly Accused He was accused of child sexual abuse and other inappropriate behaviour by six parents, but the truth came out after he filed a defamation suit.

Head coach David Marvin led his team to a state championship in 2022, but that accomplishment has been tainted by criticism from current and former students.

Marvin filed a defamation lawsuit in 2023, and on Wednesday the six parents admitted the allegations were untrue.

“We look forward to moving forward.”

“The letter contained false statements accusing Marvin of criminal misconduct, sexual harassment and other illegal activities. [We] I regret signing the letter and any repercussions. [our actions] “We are concerned about the impact this incident has had on the reputation of Coach Marvin and the Warroad girls’ hockey program,” the statement signed by the five families said.

The parents raised their concerns with the school district, but officials decided not to act on the allegations, so the parents took to social media and posted their allegations in an open letter on Oct. 30, 2023. In the letter, they accused the coach of sexual assault, making “sexually harassing comments,” bullying and inflicting emotional distress on them.

The comments were widely circulated even after the Warroad School defended its coach and said the accusations were false.

Five of the parents admitted not checking the allegations in the letter before sending it, and the sixth parent pleaded only that he did not write the letter and that he did not make any false statements. The sixth parent was ordered to pay Marvin $17,000 in damages.

The other parents were ordered to donate $5,000 to a nonprofit that works to improve the mental health of athletes, and their accusations against the coach will also be removed from social media.

“We’re really pleased with the outcome and excited for what’s to come,” Warroad Public Schools Superintendent Shawn Yates said by phone. statement To WCCO-TV.

Yates said he expects Marvin to coach the team again this year.
