Tragic Loss of High School Tennis Star
An 18-year-old tennis player, Brown Levy, was tragically killed after being struck by a suspected drunk driver, reports indicate. This event unfolded early Sunday morning around 1 AM as Levy was walking along Manhattan Beach Boulevard with a friend.
The driver, identified as 33-year-old Geniabert, has been charged with murder related to the DUI crash. Levy’s death comes just months after his family relocated to the area following the loss of their home in a wildfire that devastated a significant part of Los Angeles in January.
In the wake of this unfortunate incident, friends and classmates gathered for a vigil, lighting candles and sharing stories in memory of Levy. He was remembered as a vibrant presence in the community. Jamal Adam, principal of Loyola High School, shared in a heartfelt email to students and staff how Levy brought joy and inspiration to many.
Levy had recently gained recognition in the national tennis scene, winning a title in the Mission League Doubles Championship just days before his passing. His social media has been flooded with tributes, showcasing his impact on those who knew him. One friend noted, “Anyone who knows how lucky they are… you’ve never met a stranger” and expressed a desire to emulate Levy’s loving spirit each day.
Set to attend the University of Virginia this fall, Levy leaves behind his parents and sister. Meanwhile, the driver remains held without bail as the case unfolds.
