Tragic Incident in Yosemite National Park
A 29-year-old software engineer from Google tragically lost his life earlier this month while hiking in Yosemite National Park. The accident occurred when he was struck by falling tree branches while walking along a well-known trail.
Angela Lynn was hiking through the Tuolumne Grove on July 19 when her boyfriend, David Hua, heard a loud crack from a massive sequoia tree above. According to Hua, “After a couple of seconds, the branches started falling.” One particularly large branch hit Lynn, followed closely by several smaller ones that struck Hua.
Upon realizing the severity of the situation, Hua quickly called 911. He recounted seeing blood around Lynn’s head as she lay on the ground; he performed CPR until help arrived. Sadly, paramedics informed him that Lynn likely died instantly from the impact.
“I could never have imagined something like this happening,” Hua reflected, emphasizing the shock of such an occurrence on a popular trail.
While the National Park Service has yet to comment on Lynn’s death, a spokesperson for Yosemite expressed condolences to Fox News Digital.
Hua has expressed frustration regarding communication from park authorities. He and Lynn’s family are seeking details on trail safety and how trees are monitored for hazards on popular paths.
Lynn, who earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley, went on to complete her master’s and doctoral studies at the University of Texas. She had been a part of the Google team since 2022.
A Google representative shared, “We lost a loved and respected member of our team. We are very saddened by this tragedy, and our hearts go out to their families and loved ones.”
