Hillary Clinton has faced backlash for her remark regarding accusations from President Donald Trump that Qatar is offering luxurious Boeing 747 jets to the Trump administration as a temporary substitute for the Air Force.
“Nobody offers a $400 million jet for free without expecting something in return,” Clinton stated in a post on X. “Seriously.”
Clinton’s comments followed reports suggesting the Trump administration was engaging in discussions to “accept” the lavish jet, which would initially be assigned to the US Air Force.
Ownership of the aircraft, often referred to as the “flying palace,” is set to be transferred to the Trump Presidential Library Foundation before Trump leaves office in 2029.
The plane is expected to be adapted to meet the specifications needed for military use and will be transitioned to the Trump Presidential Library Foundation by January 1, 2029, with the US Air Force covering the associated costs, as per various sources.
Previously, Trump had suggested on Truth Society that the administration was preparing to accept Qatar’s Boeing Jet as a “free gift,” criticizing Democrats for causing controversy over the deal.
Breitbart News highlighted claims made in Peter Schweizer’s book, Clinton Cash, detailing significant financial contributions from foreign governments and businesses to the Clinton Foundation during her time as Secretary of State.
These revelations have drawn attention from various media outlets, affirming the book’s claims about foreign financial inflows to the foundation that weren’t widely known. Subsequent investigations expanded on Schweizer’s findings.
Some publications like the New York Times and Huffington Post have delved into Clinton Cash, noting that Clinton has earned millions from speeches tied to organizations including those linked to the Keystone Pipeline.
Following Clinton’s remarks, critics on social media highlighted that the Clinton Foundation accepted substantial donations from nations such as Qatar. “Cry Me A River @HillaryClinton,” wrote Senator Paul Gozar (R-AZ) on X.
“What did Qatar seek from you?” asked Jerry Dunleavy, a research correspondent, referencing past revelations about the foundation receiving a multimillion-dollar donation from Qatar during Clinton’s tenure.
Breitbart News Washington Director Matthew Boyle chimed in with skepticism on various social media posts, questioning the motivations behind such significant donations to the Clinton Foundation. “No one donates millions without expecting something in return,” another user emphasized, challenging Clinton’s claims.
Reports surrounding the potential transfer of the jet suggest that Ali Al Ansari, a representative from Qatar, asserted that discussions between Qatar and the US about the temporary use of the aircraft are ongoing, albeit still under legal review. “The possibility of transferring the aircraft for temporary use as an Air Force asset is still being assessed,” Al Ansari indicated.
