Hillary Clinton Surprisingly Commends Trump for Two Recent Second-Term Decisions

Clinton on Trump’s NATO Relations

Hillary Clinton spoke recently about President Donald Trump’s relationship with NATO during a podcast, suggesting that he has been quite genuine in his approach over the last few months of his second term.

NATO nations agreed in June to boost their defense spending from 2% to 5% of GDP by 2035, a move attributed to pressure from Trump. Additionally, a contract signed in July aimed at enabling NATO to finance military support for Ukraine. Clinton described these developments as signs of improving relationships between the Trump administration and U.S. European allies.

“I feel encouraged by what we’ve seen unfold in recent months,” she remarked. She noted NATO’s commitment to increased defense spending as a significant achievement, something past administrations have long pursued. “It’s encouraging to see European nations backing Ukraine, especially with American weaponry,” she added.

Clinton also expressed optimism that there was a growing understanding between Trump and his circle regarding a shared foundation for cooperation, especially concerning European and transatlantic security. This marks a shift from the more hesitant approach witnessed during the first Trump term, she noted.

In a July 10 interview with NBC News, Trump stated that NATO would cover the costs of U.S. patriot missile shipments to Ukraine, claiming this arrangement was discussed at the NATO summit earlier that month in The Hague.

NATO’s Executive Director, Mark Latte, showed admiration for Trump, referring to him affectionately as “daddy” during the summit. He credited Trump for securing NATO’s commitment to increase defense spending.

“If someone deserves praise, they should receive it, and President Trump truly deserves acknowledgment,” Latte commented. He asserted that Trump’s leadership was crucial in reaching this agreement and ensuring commitments of 2% this year and 5% by 2035.

Moreover, Chris Cuomo, a host on NewsNation, commended Trump for his foreign policy decisions during a July episode of “Chris Cuomo Project.” He gave Trump a “B” grade, pointing to actions like the U.S. bombing of Iranian nuclear facilities as evidence of a strong stance. “The bombing was a significant message to the regime,” Cuomo remarked, highlighting that it had slowed down Iran’s nuclear program.

Both the Defense Intelligence Agency and the Central Intelligence Agency, along with Iranian officials, have claimed that the U.S. strike inflicted considerable damage on Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
