Hillary Clinton to Participate in U.S. House Panel's Investigation into Jeffrey Epstein

Hillary Clinton to Testify Before Congress

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is set to testify under oath on Thursday before the U.S. House of Representatives as part of a congressional investigation concerning convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell.

Bill Clinton, the former president, is also scheduled for two days of closed-door depositions with the House Oversight Committee.

This deposition will take place in Chappaqua, the Clintons’ hometown, a quiet area north of New York City. It comes after months of tense interactions between the Clintons and the Republican-led committee.

Importantly, this marks the first time a former president has been required to testify before Congress.

Both Clintons, now 79, agreed to testify following the Oversight Committee’s rejection of their request to avoid deposition. Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) had warned them of potential contempt charges.

In a recent BBC interview, Hillary Clinton stated, “We have a very clear record that we’re happy to talk about.” She mentioned that her husband had flown with Epstein on one occasion for a charity event, but she herself does not remember meeting Epstein, although she had interacted with Maxwell during a conference organized by the Clinton Foundation.

“We’re happy to say what we know, but it’s very specific and has nothing to do with their actions or their crimes, and we want to do it in public,” Hillary noted.

Bill Clinton’s deposition is scheduled for Friday, making him the first former U.S. president to testify before a Congressional committee since Gerald Ford in 1983.

Neither Clinton has faced any accusations of wrongdoing, and both have called for the complete release of Epstein’s files.

After Hillary Clinton’s deposition, Democratic and Republican members of the committee are expected to address reporters.
