Hillary Clinton's deposition regarding Epstein spirals out of control after leaked photo causes breakdown

Clintons Face Deadlock in Epstein Hearing

The House Oversight Committee’s initial closed-door session with Hillary and Bill Clinton about their ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein hit a standstill over Hillary’s deposition.

This week, committee members traveled to Chappaqua, New York, to hold the Clintons in contempt of Congress after a lengthy tug-of-war involving negotiations and votes.

“Hillary is trying to avoid answering questions about Epstein because of the photo. Does this sound hopeless to you?”

Hillary Clinton was set to testify under oath on Thursday, followed by Bill Clinton on Friday.

Initially, Hillary’s team disregarded congressional subpoenas but later urged the committee to arrange a hearing. However, they abruptly canceled Thursday’s deposition after a photo of her at the meeting surfaced online.

Political commentator Benny Johnson mentioned that the photo was shared by Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.). “This is the first time Hillary has had to answer real questions about Epstein. Clinton doesn’t look happy,” Johnson noted.

Shortly after the announcement, Nick Merrill, a Clinton adviser, exited the deposition to speak to the media. He indicated that the session was suspended due to the photo being posted online, which he claimed violated the chamber’s rules set at the start of the meeting.

Johnson pushed back against Merrill’s statement, pointing out the inconsistency in Hillary’s team expressing dissatisfaction over the photo’s release while also insisting on holding the hearings.

In a post on X, Johnson commented, “The deposition is being filmed and will be released in full. Hillary wanted it to be broadcast live. Congresswoman Boebert allowed me to share the photo taken before the hearing started.” He reiterated that Hillary was trying to evade questions about Epstein due to the photo.

Boebert defended Johnson for posting the photo, asserting that he did nothing wrong and noted that the deposition continued after a brief lull.

Prior to Thursday’s deposition, Clinton shared her opening statement on social media, claiming she had no information about Epstein’s criminal activities or those of his accomplice, Ghislaine Maxwell.

“As I stated in my Jan. 13 affidavit, I had no knowledge of their criminal activities. I don’t remember meeting Mr. Epstein or boarding his plane, nor did I ever visit his island, home, or office,” Clinton stated.

She accused House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) of not holding hearings regarding Epstein.

“Despite your insistence on the necessity for transparency, you have neither held a public hearing nor allowed the media to attend, including today,” she remarked.

Comer hasn’t ruled out a public hearing but insists on holding the first deposition privately. Maxwell had previously claimed she visited the Clintons’ Chappaqua home “several times” and attended their daughter’s wedding in 2010.
