Robby Mook Returns as Key Advisor for House Democrats’ Strategy
Robby Mook, who managed Hillary Clinton’s campaign in 2016, is back in the spotlight as a primary advisor for the super PACs targeting House Democrats’ social media efforts this mid-term season.
Breitbart News is looking to obtain images of PowerPoint slides from a recent donor event held by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), where the focus was on raising substantial funds through social media. One aspect of this initiative appears to be a “social media bootcamp.” One slide showcased the logo of the Super PAC Zinc Population, hinting at this involvement.
A glance at the Zinc Group Leadership Page reveals Mook as one of four main advisors. This group aims to “sustain, sustain, and sustain the diverse potential talent within a responsive democratic ecosystem.”
Mook is also listed as an advisor for Digidems, another organization linked to Zinc Population.
“Our mission is to recruit, develop, support, and retain diverse, high-potential technical talent,” the Digidems state.
Breitbart News reached out to Mook via text and email regarding his role in the bootcamp, hoping to clarify whether it would be held digitally or in person, and whether participants might have the chance to gain financial rewards from their involvement. He has not yet responded.
According to the slides, the bootcamp focuses on “customized social media assessments,” “platform-specific optimization strategies,” “real-time insights on trending content and engagement strategies,” and “Daily + Rapid Response Content.”
Reflecting on Mook’s tenure, a 2017 book titled *Shattered* highlighted significant criticisms following Clinton’s loss. The authors noted that Mook relied heavily on data analytics rather than traditional campaigning methods, which some believe contributed to shortcomings in reaching undecided voters.
As mentioned in *Shattered*, Mook underestimated Bernie Sanders and neglected to invest enough in crucial early stages of the primary calendar. The campaign seemed slow to learn from initial setbacks, such as losing the Michigan primary, revealing a disconnect with working-class voters amidst rising populist sentiments.
These issues persisted through the race against Trump, with reports indicating that Democratic National Committee Chairman Donna Brazile was concerned about a lack of ground presence in vital swing states as the campaign progressed. Mook had hesitated to employ polling to gauge voter preferences leading up to the final weeks of the election.
In the past, he has served as the president of the House Majority PAC, representing House Democrats’ Super PAC.
