HIMS CEO ‘clarifies’ support for anti-Israel protests after boycott deflates company’s stock

CEO Andrew Dadum said: Hims Online medicine, publication Clarification Regarding his previous comments expressing enthusiastic support for anti-Israel protests on US campuses.

Dudum, who is Palestinian-American, issued a second statement regarding the protests from his official account on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

“The last few days have been a disheartening reminder of how divided we live in times. I would like to clarify a few things because my words have been misunderstood by some. think.” he wrote

“I in no way condone or support acts or threats of violence, anti-Semitism, or intimidation, and there is absolutely no good reason to justify violence on campus. All students… You have the right to feel safe without fear of harm or being targeted. My support for peaceful protests has been met with incitement to violence, intimidation, and bigotry of all kinds. I am deeply saddened by the way this is being interpreted by people.” he added.

He went on to praise the courage of the demonstrators and compared them to other student demonstrators in the past.

“I hope and pray for peace and an end to violence everywhere,” he added.

Critics pounced on his earlier comments, leading to furious investors taking to social media to declare that they were dumping HIMS stock, and customers to claim they were canceling their accounts.

“I have used Hims for 10 years and am happy to cancel today.” answered Entrepreneur Brendan Kaminski at the time.

“If you support Israel, please cancel your @wearehims subscription immediately. You can get similar products for cheaper elsewhere anyway.” answered Editor Ben Domenech.

At one point, the stock price fell 10%, or about $265 million in market capitalization. After Mr. Dudum issued his explanation, the stock price returned to its previous value.

Some university officials responded to the protests and encampments by calling on police to drag out demonstrators. Some have given in to protesters’ demands, including some who have agreed to review their investments to dissociate themselves financially from Israeli-owned companies.

On Monday, anti-Israel demonstrators tore down barricades near the Met Gala in New York City and later vandalized the 107th Infantry Veterans Memorial with graffiti. They also lit an American flag on fire near its base.
