Hoda Kotb has signed a new deal with the Today show and NBC to contribute exclusive interviews and cover the next two Olympics, Page Six has learned.
“I think it's going to be a Snoop-ish role,” Kotb said, noting that Snoop Dogg served as a fun correspondent for the 2024 Paris Games.
The “Today” anchor, who is leaving “Today” on Friday after 26 years on the air, said he has shed so many tears that he is trying to rehydrate before his final show. .
“I literally have a bottle of Gatorade next to my bed. I'm not kidding when I shed tears this week,” she said.
But we'll still see her, as she appears on a monthly segment on “Today” and is scheduled to travel to Milan for the 2026 Winter Olympics and the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
“I want to be a support to the team that's already started, so I'm just going to have a role there. And I'm going to be doing my podcast, Making Space, which I really enjoy and love,” Kotb said. “And I think we talked on the 'Today' show about doing something every four to six weeks, a little something.”
She also hinted at occasional appearances on former 4th Hour co-host Jenna Bush Hager's new show, Today with Jenna & Friends.
Kotb, who will replace Craig Melvin on “Today” with co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, had loose conversations about possible opportunities at other networks and other platforms before deciding to remain at NBC. I admitted that.
There were reports that Hoda was quitting after making a fuss over money, but she told Page Six: That's not the case. Because then you'll only be happy every other Thursday.
“I do it because I love it. And I don't think it was ever about the money for me…I got a job that I loved, and then I went on to ask for anything I wanted.”
The longtime TV star reevaluated her goals after turning 60 last August, and candidly said she wanted to spend more time with her young daughters Haley and Hope.
She is currently in the midst of launching a wellness app and says: Affordability, comfort and all that. So we're going to create an app, a retreat, a newsletter. ”
As reported by Page Six, Kotb recently moved to the suburbs with her daughters and is happily co-parenting with ex-boyfriend Joel Shiffman.
They spent Christmas together and plan to spend time together on Hayley's eighth birthday on Monday.
“We love our kids and we get along well. I think we've found a good rhythm for us and the kids,” Kotb said of Schiffman. “And they look forward to seeing their dad, and he loves spending time with them.
On Monday, Guthrie's first day away from Today, she gave her an alarm clock that her son Charlie had broken, pompoms to cheer her on, and a diamond bracelet with the words “With You” written on it. Kotub said things start with a 5:45 a.m. SoulCyle class, but “for me it feels like 10 a.m.”
