A high-ranking Hollywood talent agent who represents stars like Justin Timberlake and Matthew McConaughey reportedly texted “Fuck the left, kill them all” in response to the recent killings of six Israeli hostages by the Hamas terrorist group.
Brant Joel, a top WME agent, sent the text to a WhatsApp group that includes other WME employees but is not officially affiliated with the company, then deleted it, the report said. Report from The Hollywood ReporterThe WhatsApp group appears to be a platform for expressing pro-Israel sentiment.
Joel's “Fuck the left, kill them all” comment was reportedly made in response to comments made by WME's Nancy Josephson and Katie Slater about the tragedy of the murders.
According to sources Thursday Joel, who reportedly deleted the message minutes after posting it, is a senior partner at WME who also represents Jason Momoa and Mahershala Ali. Before becoming an agent, Joel served in the U.S. Navy for four years, including a tour of duty in Iraq.
According to another source Thursday This isn't the first time Joel has sent so-called “divisive” messages in a group chat.
“We were weak. Every division had customers that should have been fired and we didn't. This shows we were weak and tolerated abhorrent behavior,” Joel once reportedly texted. It's unclear what he meant by “abhorrent” behavior.
Thursday They claimed that Joel's “fuck the left, kill them all” comments had exposed him to a “storm of prejudice,” but did not elaborate on the career consequences he could face.
Hollywood is torn apart by the ongoing war in Gaza, with many entertainment industry liberals opposed to Israel and its military response to its unprecedented terror attacks, but a growing and vocal minority supports Israel's right to exist and defend itself against Hamas.
Among those supporting Israel are stars Debra Messing, Michael Rapaport, Sacha Baron Cohen, Gal Gadot and Amy Schumer.
WME is owned by Endeavor, whose CEO, Ari Emanuel, is a vocal supporter of the Democratic Party and holds Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responsible for the bloody Oct. 7 riots perpetrated by Hamas.
“In my opinion, the morally corrupt Bibi Netanyahu has subjected Israel and its people to rape, murder, the beheading of children, the murder of fathers, mothers and grandmothers, and he has done so in order to stay in power,” Emanuel said late last year. “I think it's time to get rid of this man.”
