Academy Awards host Jimmy Kimmel waited until the end of Sunday’s Oscars broadcast to attack former President Donald Trump and his MAGA base.
“Isn’t your prison sentence over?” Kimmel said, sending the celebrity audience into a fit of maniacal laughter and rapturous applause.
Just before the final awards ceremony of the night, Jimmy Kimmel read out a Truth Social post that President Trump published on air, in which the former president mocked Kimmel’s hosting abilities and criticized recent Oscars. He also mentioned the decline in audience ratings.
“Was there a worse host for the Oscars than Jimmy Kimmel?” Trump wrote, suggesting ABC host Kimmel instead. Good morning, America co-anchor George Stephanopoulos;
President Trump called Sunday’s Oscars “a really bad politically correct show.” He called on the Academy to award Oscars based on merit. “If we do that, viewer ratings and TV ratings may recover from rock bottom.”

Kimmel read most of Trump’s posts. When he sang “Make America Great Again,” the celebrity audience performing live at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles burst into laughter and cameras were trained on Jodie Foster, who clearly thought it was funny. That’s what I thought.
“Thank you, President Trump. Thank you for watching. Hasn’t your prison sentence already passed?” When Kimmel added this, the audience erupted into loud cheers and applause.
Among the stars who appeared on camera to applaud Kimmel were Annette Bening and barbie Star Margot Robbie.

Earlier in the broadcast, Kimmel mocked Sen. Katie Britt (R-Ala.), comparing her to a Frankenstein-like heroine in a movie. poor thing Played by Emma Stone.
Kimmel hosted last year’s Oscar ceremony, which drew fewer than 19 million viewers, the third-lowest in Oscar history despite a Best Picture nomination for a blockbuster. top gun: maverick and Avatar: Water Path.
