Daniel Stern Cited in Solicitation Case
Daniel Stern, known for his role as Marv in the classic holiday film “Home Alone,” was recently cited for allegedly trying to solicit a prostitute during the festive season.
On December 10, court records show that Stern, 68, was involved in a situation at a hotel in Camarillo, California. According to reports, he was cited for soliciting a prostitute, although he was not formally arrested. In California, this offense is categorized as a misdemeanor and may result in penalties including a potential six-month jail term or a maximum fine of $1,000 if convicted.
This incident surfaced just days after news broke that Stern had been commissioned to create a sculpture for the iconic mansion in Illinois where “Home Alone” was filmed. He shared, “I got a call from the owner of the house on Home Alone. They asked me to do a sculpture for their house, so I’m making a sculpture of me and a spider.”
This sculpture is reminiscent of a memorable scene in the movie where Stern’s character and Joe Pesci’s character chase after Kevin, played by Macaulay Culkin, only to be consistently outsmarted by Kevin’s inventive traps. One of those scenes involved Culkin introducing a large tarantula to Stern’s character, provoking a scream reminiscent of the classic horror film “Psycho.”
After his time in Hollywood, Stern moved to a ranch in Ventura, California, where he’s focusing on his art. He indicated that this sculpture would mark his first self-portrait, adding with a bit of humor, “I’ve been looking at myself in the studio, and I’ve come out much more handsome than I am in real life. Why not?”
Stern also reprised his role in “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York,” where he teamed up with Pesci’s character to form a crime duo called the Sticky Bandits. In October, he experienced a medical emergency that required hospitalization, but he has since been released and is reportedly doing well. As of now, he hasn’t publicly commented on the citation or his recent health scare.
