Homeless Man Wins $1 Million on a Scratch-off Lottery Ticket

The homeless California man won $1 million on scratch-off lottery tickets, according to the manager of the store that sold the award.

That’s what the victory ticket was like It sold With Sandy’s liquor on the central coast of California. A homeless man, known as a “long-time client,” was distrustful of the award.

“He came to the store, he hurts it, it’s like, ‘Oh, is God true?'” Wilson Summeran – the facility manager who has worked there since 2013 – recalled to CNN. “I’ll take a look. So I grabbed the ticket from his hand. [and] I went to the machine over there. ”

“He’s like, ‘Man, I’m not homeless anymore!”,” Samann reported. “I’m like the guy you hit the jackpot.”

The store manager noted that he thought the man had first won $100,000.

“He’s like ‘$100,000’. And I said, “The brothers are brothers, and we gave each other a high five,” Samann said.

The manager went beyond that by bringing him to Fresno for his longtime clients and submitting a ticket instead of sending it by mail.

“I drove him to Fresno. The next day or Wednesday, he said, ‘Would you like to email me?’ And I said to him: “It’s a million dollar ticket. “I hope they’re all the best.”

The lottery winner told the outlet he plans to buy a house and car, invest, and put his savings aside once he receives the prize.

California lottery spokesperson Carolyn Becker said there was a “very thorough jury process” before awarding the award. According to CNN, “involving an interview with the winner, we will check if the person owes the state money and see a few other factors.”

Becker added that they will process around 10,000 win claims per month.
