ABC’s The View Hosts Criticize Alaska Democrats for Election Ballot Deception
The hosts of ABC’s The View are calling out Alaska Democrats for orchestrating a controversial tactic: introducing a second candidate named Dan Sullivan on the ballot to confuse voters and undermine the reelection bid of Republican Senator Dan S. Sullivan.
Reports suggest that some members of the Alaska Democrat Party conspired to have another Dan Sullivan run for Senate, aiming to create voter confusion. Interestingly, it seems that Mary Peltola, the Democrat nominee, might have had prior knowledge of this plot, although her campaign has denied involvement.
During Thursday’s episode, Whoopi Goldberg criticized the Democrats for employing “a shady tactic,” and Joy Behar remarked that it represented “a mistake on the part of the Democrats” in Alaska.
Behar noted, “Well, this sort of thing has happened on both sides. It’s true, Republicans did it in the past. And while I don’t know, it just feels like a pretty low-level trick. Let’s not forget that Trump was the one who tried to find 11,780 votes. He’s known for playing dirty. That said, it was definitely a misstep by the Democrats.”
Alyssa Farah Griffin chimed in, describing the entire situation as “it stinks to high heaven.”
“I really believe that candidates ought to win based on their own merits rather than through underhanded tactics. Take, for instance, that ad Vivek Ramaswamy ran in Ohio—it backfired. The gerrymandering we’ve seen from Republicans in Texas has come back to bite them too,” Griffin said. She expressed doubts about the tactic’s impact on the election but stated unequivocally that she disapproves of it.
She went on to argue that this whole scheme could play right into Trump’s strategy. “What this illustrates is that Trump has already hinted at wanting to challenge the election results. If Peltola wins, this will definitely make its way into post-election lawsuits,” she asserted.
Hostin commented on a legal nuance, mentioning that while it’s questionable, putting someone with the same name on a ballot isn’t actually against the law.
In conclusion, Goldberg labeled the entire affair as “sloppy and dumb,” expressing concern that it could negatively affect Peltola’s chances of success in the election.
