House approves Trump’s comprehensive bill in major win for Speaker Johnson

House Advances Trump’s Legislative Bill

The House has moved forward with President Donald Trump’s proposed “one big, beautiful bill.” In a narrow vote of 215-214-1, most Republican lawmakers supported the tax and spending package, which is anchored by a significant portion of the president’s legislative agenda. Notably, Thomas Massey of Kentucky and Warren Davidson of Ohio were the only GOP members who voted against it. Speaker Mike Johnson characterized the Budget Settlement Bill as a “historic moment” and urged the Senate to expedite its passage.

Democrats did not support the president’s landmark initiative. Andy Harris, the chairman of the House Freedom Caucus, expressed his approval of the bill, which emphasizes fiscal responsibility.

“After four years of President Biden’s failures, Trump’s agenda is finally here,” Johnson declared on the House floor early Thursday morning. He underscored that this legislation could significantly improve the daily lives of hardworking Americans.

In a follow-up statement, the chairperson of Texas’ Republican Research Committee labeled the successful passage of the bill as “the most conservative victory of our life.”
