House Republicans Call on Virginia Officials Amid Sanctuary Policy Criticism

House Republicans have recruited two prominent law enforcement figures from Fairfax County, including a prosecutor backed by George Soros, after several violent crimes involving illegal immigrants raised concerns over the county’s sanctuary policies.

Fairfax County Sheriff Stacey Ann Kincaid and Commonwealth’s Attorney Stephen Descano have been invited to testify at an upcoming hearing organized by the Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement Subcommittee. The hearing is titled “Fairfax County, Virginia – Dangerous Consequences of Sanctuary City Policies.”

Both officials are Democrats, and it’s noted that Descano’s campaign has received substantial funding—over $700,000—from groups linked to the far-left billionaire.

A letter signed by Congressman Jim Jordan and Subcommittee Chairman Tom McClintock was sent to Kincaid and Descano, prompting their potential testimony. The focus of the hearing will be on local policies that prevent cooperation with federal immigration authorities and how these may compromise public safety.

They have until Monday to confirm attendance for the April 15 hearing in the Rayburn House Office Building.

Descano has been known for dismissing charges against undocumented immigrants with criminal backgrounds. One notable case involved Marvin Morales Ortez, who allegedly killed a man in Virginia after being released by authorities.

In previous correspondence, Jordan and McClintock voiced concerns, asserting that Descano’s policies favor illegal immigrants over the safety of American citizens.

The lawmakers also pointed out Kincaid’s decision to release Morales-Ortez even with potential connections to MS-13, after Descano chose not to pursue further charges related to a prior aggravated assault.

Importantly, Fairfax’s leadership, including Board Chairman Jeffrey McKay, has been criticized for not allowing local police to work with ICE.

This situation has drawn ire from the Trump administration, with former officials claiming that local politicians were bearing responsibility for the fallout from such policies. They cited incidents of violence connected to released illegal immigrants as evidence of failure.

Recent tragic events have intensified scrutiny; the family of a mother murdered by an undocumented immigrant has called for changes in leadership. The perpetrator had a lengthy criminal history and was released despite multiple warnings about his dangerous behavior.

Fairfax County, which leans heavily Democratic, has seen Kincaid and Descano receive strong voter support in past elections. However, upcoming contests may bring some new challenges, with Descano now facing a fellow Democrat endorsed by victims’ rights groups.

This political dynamic adds another layer to the ongoing discussions about the implications of sanctuary policies on community safety.
