Rep. Jared Golden (D-Maine) expressed dissatisfaction with Democrats' reaction to President Trump's actions during his first few weeks of office, claiming it was “very ineffective.”
“I don't think it's been very effective so far, the DEM response. In fact, I'm frustrated with it. If I make everything into defcon 5, then ultimately there's nothing with defcon 5. And about the question of constitutional authority overruns, it's not always that cut and dry,” Golden said in an interview with the Washington Post. Disclosure Friday morning.
“There are some clear precedents of unconstitutional things, right? But in many cases, it's not exactly trivial and requires attention to time, patience and facts before making these types of claims.” he told the Post. “And if you hurry straight away and say, 'This is like dictatorial or illegal,' you could be wrong and that could undermine your credibility. ”
Since taking office on January 20, his close allies work, including Democrats and large Trump and government's Department of Efficiency (DOGE) officials have delved into multiple federal agencies. It's not uniform. Gain access to the payment system and convince workers to leave their position.
Some argue that Democrats' anger should be directed at Trump and his work, not musk.
“Why are we so distracted here?” a Democratic strategist told the Oka. “Our singular focus should be on Trump. It's not the shiny object that musk represents. What is our focus here? Back home in 2026 or “I can't do that!”
Others consider Musk, the owner of SpaceX, Tesla and X, to be a good opportunity for a strong pushback as he is not touching on the average American and his priorities. He says that.
“Eron and Doge aren't going to solve all the problems, but that's certainly a great place to start,” said Democrat strategist Eddie Verele. “The average people, and even a lot of Maga people who like Trump, don't want to look at their tax returns and mess around with the system of sending social security checks.”
Golden, representing Maine's second district, Battlefield District, said he doesn't respond immediately to Trump's comments on a daily basis, but he evaluated the impact of the president's actions and said, ” I will weigh whether he is effective or undermines American interests.”
“I'm going to pay attention to what the president is doing,” said Golden, who secured a fourth term in November. “And when it comes to the conflict between Israel and Gaza, what I want to see is bringing hostages, especially American hostages home.”
Maine Democrats view tariffs and trade as two regions where they can work with the current White House.
“Especially because of the President's view on tariffs, but because we have it. [United States-Mexico-Canada] The trade agreement has returned for consultation,” he said.
