Rep. Seth Moulton (D-Mass.) said President Trump is thinking of “selling” Ukraine to Russia at a meeting to end the three-year war.
Moulton joined CNN's Erin Burnett on Monday evening. She asked lawmakers why President Trump calls Ukrainian President Voldymi Zelensky a dictator, but not Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“Because Trump has sold out Ukraine to Russia. This is truly incredible,” replied Moulton. “So, the fact that we are predicting that we will take three years to wars that many people had predicted, and that Russia will win in a few weeks, is absolutely certain that Ukraine will last three years. It's worth noting.
Trump argued that ending the war was a priority, both in his campaign path and inauguration in his first month.
However, he overturned the course from former President Biden, a solid Ukraine alliance. Trump blamed Zelensky on the war and claimed that it would not have happened if he had been in office for Biden.
Trump called Zelensky a dictator, did a poor job leading the country, and stood by Ukrainian officials in strengthening peace talks with Russia.
He revealed he is strengthening his ties with Putin, raising bipartisan concerns about both the region, including China and the wider international influence.
Moulton expressed shock that the US was with Russia on the issue and criticised Trump to strengthen relations with Putin.
“What no one in the world imagined is that Ukraine will be betrayed by Russia by the US president, and that's what's happening today,” he said.
Oka reached out to the White House for comments.
