House Democrat Urges Congressional Delegation to Investigate El Salvador Prison Conditions!

House Democrat requests Congressional delegation visit El Salvadorian prison

Rep. Delia Ramirez (D-Ill.) has urged for a congressional team to visit a prison in El Salvador where many deportations have been sent by the Trump administration.

In a letter sent Wednesday to Chairperson Mark Greene (R-Tenn.), who chairs the House of Representatives’ Homeland Security Committee, Ramirez inquired: “Does the Homeland Security Committee endorse that the Congressional Members’ Delegation (Codel) will monitor the Centro de Confinamiento del Terrorismo (CECOT) in Tecolca, El Salvador?”

During the early months of President Trump’s second term, his administration deported hundreds of individuals to El Salvador’s largest security facility, CECOT.

“Considering the administration’s use of CECOT for unlawful and unconstitutional deportations is riddled with ‘administrative mistakes,’ many of those deported to CECOT are indeed violent offenders, and as a member of the House Homeland Security Committee, I want to express gratitude for her request. Initially reported.

The case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Maryland resident mistakenly deported to CECOT, has recently ignited a political uproar in Washington, D.C.

Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), a prominent figure in the Democratic Party, referred to the Abrego Garcia incident as “a constitutional crisis” in a video shared on social platform X on Tuesday. Murphy contended that Abrego Garcia’s deportation was unjust since he had been granted protected status by a U.S. court.

“Donald Trump disregarded the court’s directive and deported him,” Murphy stated in the video. “This was an egregious violation of the law, which the Supreme Court has addressed. In an unprecedented 9-0 decision, the Supreme Court ruled that Trump must bring the individual back to the United States, yet he has failed to do so. This is a constitutional crisis.”

Oka reached out to Green’s office for remarks.
