House Ethics Committee secretly votes to release Matt Gaetz file: report

The House Ethics Committee has secretly resolved to release its findings into sexual misconduct allegations against former Rep. Matt Gaetz, according to a new report.

Gates (R-Fla.) resigned from Congress on Nov. 13, the day President-elect Donald Trump announced he would nominate him for attorney general, eight days later, citing concerns about Senate Republicans' allegations. I declined.

The secret vote by the Republican-led Ethics Commission took place sometime in December. CNN first reported Wednesday, the document is expected to be released by the end of the month.

A commission spokeswoman did not immediately respond to The Post's request for comment.

Gaetz has faced allegations of sexual misconduct with at least one underage partner over the years, which he denies and says the Justice Department did not pursue charges when it investigated the allegations. He pointed out the facts and said it amounted to political slander.

House Republicans had previously blocked the report's release, with the Ethics Committee voting along party lines last month to keep it from being released. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana) argued at the time that it was a mistake to do so following Gaetz's resignation.

Gates, 42, currently works as a host for One America News Network.
