House leaders consider voting on Trump's significant bill Wednesday while the Senate continues its late-night work.

House lawmakers were poised to discuss President Donald Trump’s “big, beautiful bill” early Wednesday morning.

Notices circulated to Congressional offices on Sunday indicated that House GOP leaders planned to kick off the process at 9 a.m. with their first vote.

However, nothing was finalized, as the Senate was still navigating significant legislation by Monday morning.

“The President is quite clear that it’s time to get this bill from Congress to his desk,” stated the GOP Policy Chair from Oklahoma. “We’ll celebrate Independence Day with a big, beautiful signing ceremony and ultimately provide this tax cut to American families.”

The initial House-wide vote is a “rules” vote, a procedural step necessary for lawmakers to start discussing the bill. This could lead to a final vote as early as Wednesday evening or Thursday morning. The House Rules Committee, which serves as a crucial gatekeeper for most legislation, might evaluate the bill on Tuesday.

The original version of the bill passed the House in late May by a narrow margin.

House GOP leaders are now contending with similar precarious odds, anticipating that all Democrats will oppose the measure, with only four Republican uncertainties.

Some House Republicans have already voiced concerns regarding the Senate’s substantial alterations to the bill. Moderates are anxious about increased cost-sharing requirements for states that expanded their Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act, while conservatives fear other changes could exacerbate the national debt, currently at $36 trillion.

House Speaker and Majority Leader Steve Scalise encouraged Republicans to express their concerns directly to leadership or their Senate colleagues instead of airing grievances publicly.

Meanwhile, allies of the leadership are actively promoting the bill in the media.

“This large and beautiful bill will provide tax relief to seniors and fulfill President Trump’s promises by eliminating tips, overtime, and taxes on auto profits,” said one supporter.

“The average taxpayer in my district will see a 26% tax increase if this big beautiful bill fails to pass. We cannot afford to fail. This bill must go through to prevent the largest tax hike in history!”

The proposed 940-page legislation seeks to advance Trump’s goals regarding taxes, border security, energy policy, defense, and government bonds.

The President hopes to have this bill on his desk by July 4th or so.

Additionally, the law may still undergo changes before reaching Trump. The Senate continues a lengthy “voting” process for the bill, with various senators from both parties putting forward an unlimited number of amendments.
