House Oversight supports Trump's DOJ inquiry into supposed Biden autopen pardons

Investigation into Biden’s Cognitive Health and Pardons

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, a Republican from Kentucky, is expressing his support for the Trump administration’s investigation into claims regarding former President Joe Biden’s alleged cognitive decline. This inquiry raises questions about the amnesty granted by the Biden administration, particularly focusing on whether Biden is “competent” and the use of an autopen for signing pardons.

Comer stated, “The Trump DOJ is taking the appropriate steps to examine the pardons and other enforcement actions regarding potential misuse of the autopen within the Biden White House.” He emphasized that Americans deserve clarity about who is making decisions in the government.

Last month, Comer initiated a House Oversight Committee inquiry into the previous administration, calling for testimonies and documents from five key former Biden aides, including Dr. Kevin O’Connor.

One source familiar with the situation mentioned that the attorneys representing these former staff members are liaising with the committee, although Comer did not dismiss the possibility of them testifying if those discussions are conclusive.

Comer continued, “Our investigation into the concealment of President Biden’s mental decline is underway; we will promptly engage with former officials and campaigners under subpoena if required. We welcome the DOJ’s efforts toward accountability.”

Meanwhile, amidst resurfacing concerns regarding Biden’s cognitive capabilities, there have been discussions in political circles about his mental state, especially during his 2024 debates against Trump. Media scrutiny has amplified surrounding his remarks and behavior at public events. This has led to a closer examination of the broad pardons he issued on his first day in office, notably concerning his son, Hunter Biden.

Currently, Biden is facing stage 4 prostate cancer, an announcement he made last month, yet he expressed a sense of optimism when speaking to reporters.

Comer’s investigations are parallel to the DOJ’s focus on the Biden administration’s cognitive health issues and the autopen used in various executive actions. “The Committee is looking into the involvement of Biden White House officials who may have concealed critical information about the former president’s declining health,” Comer noted in a communication to a former aide.
