House, Senate GOP to roll out bill to block biological men from participating in US Olympic events for females

The bill was filed after USA Boxing announced a new policy in which both transgender men and women would be allowed to compete in biological divisions. The requirements to compete in each category are as follows:

  • For athletes to declare that their gender is male or female and have completed gender surgery accordingly.
  • The athlete in question completed quarterly hormone testing for at least 4 years post-surgery.
  • For transgender female competitors, you must demonstrate that your testosterone level has been less than 5 nmol/L for at least 48 months prior to your first competition.
  • For transgender men, testosterone levels must be maintained at a level of 10 nmol/L or higher during the period of eligibility to compete in the male category.

USA Boxing is the latest sports organization to allow transgender competitors to compete in the division of the gender they identify with. This regulation was first drafted in his August 2022, and this policy became effective in his January 1, 2024.

Last year, Steube also sponsored protections for women and girls in sports law. The bill passed the U.S. House of Representatives on April 20, 2023 and awaits a vote in the U.S. Senate.
