House Plans “Crypto-Week” to Promote Cryptocurrency Regulations
Next week, the House will hold an event dubbed “Crypto-Week” aimed at advancing legislation that supports President Trump’s pro-cryptocurrency stance.
The House will review three pieces of legislation intended to establish a clearer regulatory structure for the growing cryptocurrency market.
This includes:
- An act focused on consumer protection and innovation while outlining a transparent framework for the digital asset sector.
- The Anti-CBDC Surveillance Act, which would prevent un-elected officials from issuing central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) that could threaten Americans’ financial privacy.
- The Genius Act, designed to create a lighter regulatory system for Stablecoins, which are digital assets pegged to fiat currencies like the US dollar.
House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-MN) noted in a July statement:
This presents a historic chance for the United States. After extensive effort, American innovators are nearing the point of establishing operations domestically, which is vital for the future of the digital economy. Our goal is to protect Americans’ financial privacy while positioning the U.S. as the leading global hub for cryptocurrency. We are on the brink of a new era for American excellence, and it’s time to see this through.
This week, French Hill (R-AR), the Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, discussed cryptocurrency in a podcast in anticipation of the upcoming “Crypto Week.”
“I think dollar-backed stablecoins will enhance the dollar’s reputation. Regardless of whether the issuer is based in the U.S. or overseas, it ultimately increases the dollar’s influence as a reserve currency,” he remarked.
He also expressed appreciation for cryptocurrency, stating, “The systematic nature of blockchain technology is about streamlining costs, reducing fraud, and moving away from outdated paper-based methods.”
“It’s going to be a monumental week—a Crypto Week! Genius moves to the president’s desk, and Clarity heads to the Senate. America is set to become the world’s cryptocurrency capital,” Hill concluded.
