Housekeeper taken into custody for stealing at Michael Rubin's Hollywood Hills residence

Housekeeper Arrested for Stealing from Fanatics CEO

A housekeeper was taken into custody on Wednesday, suspected of stealing a significant amount of cash from Michael Rubin’s safe at his Los Angeles residence, as reported by the California Post.

Law enforcement received a complaint about “grand theft” at the home of the CEO of Fanatics. This was confirmed by a source close to the situation who spoke to The Post. The police were called to the mansion in the Byrd Street area of Hollywood Hills around 8:30 a.m., according to TMZ Sports.

After some investigation, authorities arrested the female employee. Interestingly, Rubin wasn’t the one who initially contacted the police.

A spokesperson for Rubin opted not to comment on the situation. The Los Angeles Police Department has also been approached for further statements.

This sprawling three-story house, located in a notable Bird Street enclave, boasts seven bedrooms and twelve bathrooms. It occupies nearly three-quarters of an acre, with an approximate area of 31,305 square feet; however, the internal square footage isn’t specified in the real estate listings.

The property, which underwent extensive renovations in 2017, was previously owned by a group linked to Vancouver Canucks chairman Francesco Aquilini, who bought it in 2012 for $8.5 million. Some may find it intriguing that the house was once home to Ronald Reagan and his first wife, actress Jane Wyman, from 1941 to 1948. Rubin acquired the property in 2022 for a record-setting $70 million.

As of Wednesday, Rubin’s net worth reached $11.6 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, and he was spotted in Los Angeles over the weekend enjoying NBA All-Star events.

This alleged incident is not an isolated case, as there have been numerous thefts targeting high-profile individuals in the sports and entertainment sectors. Recent victims include NFL stars like Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce as well as actor Brad Pitt and entertainers Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban.

The FBI has issued warnings about an increase in sophisticated burglaries aimed at wealthy celebrities, attributing many of these crimes to South American Theft Groups (SATGs). A recent indictment against seven Chilean suspects highlighted activities connected to high-value thefts, including the homes of athletes Mahomes, Kelce, and Portis, with losses exceeding $2 million.

Moreover, in August 2025, Los Angeles police apprehended four teenage suspects believed to be affiliated with a gang in relation to a string of celebrity home intrusions, including a break-in at Pitt’s residence.
