A Houston lawyer has been sentenced to 180 days in prison and 10 years of probation for secretly taking abortion-inducing drugs after learning of his wife’s third pregnancy, according to reports. new york post.
Mason Herring, 39, pleaded guilty Wednesday to assault on a pregnant woman and injury to a child. Mr. Herring, founder and managing partner of the Herring Law Firm, was originally charged with serious assault with intent to induce an abortion.
Associated Press report Katherine Herring, who has since filed for divorce, said Mason’s prison sentence was not long enough. She said her 1-year-old daughter was born about 10 weeks early and is experiencing developmental issues. The child also attends therapy eight times a week.
Duchess Kate said: “I don’t think 180 days is justice after trying to kill my child seven times.”
When Kate revealed she was pregnant with her third child, the couple went to marriage counseling to try to repair their relationship.
However, Mr. Mason did not take the news well. According to the paper, his affidavit said he had become romantically involved with a co-worker and told the Duchess that her pregnancy would “ruin her plans and make her look like an asshole.”
In May 2022, Katherine told authorities that Mark started talking to her about the importance of staying hydrated. At that time, he began offering her water that was cloudy, because either the cup or the water pipe was dirty.
As a result, she experienced severe bleeding and convulsions and became very ill. Eventually she went to the hospital, but her doctors couldn’t seem to figure out what was wrong. According to the Associated Press, Duchess Kate became suspicious and she stopped drinking other drinks that Mark offered her.
She then found a package of medication containing misoprostol, which is used to induce abortion, in the trash, the report said. She also provided authorities with footage from hidden cameras placed around the house where Mark no longer lived.
One of the videos showed Mark appearing to mix a substance into one of Catherine’s drinks.
Mason’s attorney, Dan Kogel, said the plea deal was a reasonable solution to the debacle. “This is a sad situation and Mason has accepted his responsibility.”
