Man Arrested After Assaulting Woman in Houston Bayou
A man has been apprehended on charges of attacking and trying to drown a woman while she was exercising in a bayou near Houston. According to authorities, the incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. on a Monday.
Officer Alan Rosen from the Harris County 1st Precinct reported that Jacoby Isaiah Fuselier, 19, was the suspect in the attack along White Oak Bayou. The woman bravely fought back against her assailant, managing to gouge out one of Fuselier’s eyes, pull out some of his hair, and ultimately escape. After her escape, she was helped by a deputy constable and taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
“This is such an incredible story,” Rosen commented, praising the woman’s strength and determination. He emphasized the desire for justice in her case and acknowledged the efforts of lawmakers involved.
In their investigation, police deployed a drone over the bayou and discovered a crime scene marked by claw marks in the mud near the banks. Following this, they traced a new bicycle trail leading to a nearby residential area where surveillance footage revealed a man on a bicycle, fitting the description of the attacker.
After arriving in the neighborhood, Fuselier approached another woman, but she ran away upon seeing her husband. The incident was reported to authorities, indicating that he had been behaving suspiciously.
Fuselier was eventually arrested after a brief chase and struggle with officers. Upon his capture, he was found with the woman’s cell phone, further linking him to the attack.
Initially charged with evading arrest, Fuselier has since been charged with two counts of aggravated sexual assault as well.
