Houston police identify man wanted for killing attorney at McDonald’s

Houston police have identified a man wanted in connection with the murder of a local attorney at a McDonald’s over the weekend.

Anthony Martin Landry, 57, is wanted on suspicion of murder in the shooting death of Jeffrey Rimmer, 46, the department said.

Officers responded to the McDonald’s located at 8147 Katy Freeway on May 4 around 6 p.m. after receiving a report of a shooting. When they arrived at the fast food restaurant, they found an unresponsive man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene by Houston Fire Department paramedics and later identified as Rimmer.

Police said Rimmer was shot while trying to defuse a situation between an angry McDonald’s customer and an employee. FOX 26 Houston. The man, identified Wednesday as Landry, allegedly became angry, went to his car, grabbed a gun and shot Rimmer.

The man then fled the scene in an early 2000s blue Ford pickup truck, Houston police said.

As of early Friday morning, Landry remained at large.

Rimmer’s family released a statement Thursday following news that a suspect has been identified in Rimmer’s death.

“Our family is relieved to know that the suspect has been identified and we pray that he is apprehended as soon as possible to prevent him from harming others. “We pray for the safety of the police who are trying to take him away. He is on the side of justice,” the family told FOX 26.

According to his profile on Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith LLP’s website, Mr. Rimmer was an employee of the firm’s Houston office and a member of its general liability practice.

Houston police released Landry’s previous booking photo in hopes someone could identify him. There is a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to his arrest.
