Houthis vow ‘escalation’ after US, UK launch more strikes in Yemen

Houthi rebels have vowed to “escalate” in response to the US and UK offensive launched in Yemen on Sunday.

A spokesperson for an Iran-backed group vowed to continue its campaign to destroy regional trade “no matter the cost.” The United States and Britain launched a series of attacks against Houthi targets in Yemen this weekend, in response to a deadly drone attack on a U.S. military base in Jordan last week.

“The bombing of many Yemeni provinces by the US-UK coalition does not change our position and we are committed to ensuring that no matter what happens, the crime of genocide in Gaza will be stopped and the siege against the population lifted. We confirm that our military operations against Israel will continue until “The cost to us is high,” Houthi spokesman Mohamed al-Buhaiti said on Platform X, formerly known as Twitter. I wrote this:

“Our war is a moral one, and if we had not intervened to support the oppressed in Gaza, there would be no humanity among humanity. The US and UK invasion of Yemen “It will not go unresolved, and we will face escalation after escalation,” he added. .

Tensions in the region have skyrocketed since an attack in Jordan killed three American soldiers. President Biden has pledged a sustained response targeting Iranian-backed groups in Iraq, Syria, Yemen and Lebanon.

White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan also did not rule out on Sunday the possibility of an attack inside Iran in the near future.

“The president has approached this on the simple principle that if our military is attacked, the United States will step up and respond. And the United States does not want a broader war in the Middle East. We don’t want that.”So we will respond forcefully and clearly, as we did on Friday night, and we will continue to pursue policies that do both at the same time, but at the same time: We intend to continue to maintain this approach. It won’t involve the United States in wars, as we’ve seen far too often in the Middle East,” Sullivan told CNN’s Dana Bash on “State of the Union.”

“Inside Iran? Would you rule that out at this point?” Bash asked.

“Look, sitting on national television, I’m not trying to regulate or eliminate any activity. What I’m saying is, the president should do what he thinks should be done. “He’s re-emphasizing that point, that he’s going to protect our military and he’s not going to go to war,” Sullivan said.

Israeli Foreign Ministry demands resignation of UNRWA commissioner over suspicion of staff supporting Hamas

Meanwhile, tensions between Israel and Hezbollah threaten to open a new front in Israel’s current war against Hamas. The Iranian-backed Lebanese terror group Hezbollah has fired hundreds of missiles across Israel’s northern border since October 7, and Israeli military officials warned Sunday that it would not hesitate to invade.

“We have not chosen war as our top priority, but we are certainly prepared,” said Israeli Defense Forces spokesman Daniel Hagari. “We will continue to act wherever Hezbollah is present, and wherever it is needed in the Middle East. What is true in Lebanon is also true in Syria, and in other, more distant It’s also true of places.”
