On Tuesday, on FNC's “The Ingraham Angle,” Rep. Lance Gooden (R-Texas) voiced his opposition to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky interfering in the U.S. presidential election during his visit to the United States.
Gooden and his fellow Rep. Eli Klain (R-Ariz.) said they were questioning whether taxpayer money was used to fly Zelenskiy to Pennsylvania on a campaign trip.
“Now, news breaks that later today House Republicans will be opening their own investigation into Zelensky's visit and whether the use of a U.S. government aircraft to fly him from New York to what appears to be a political event violated U.S. law,” host Laura Ingraham said. “I'm now joined by Representatives Eli Klain of Arizona and Lance Gooden of Texas. Representative Gooden, you're the architect of this investigation. Do you have anything to say?”
“Well, my colleagues and I have a lot of questions,” Gooden replied. “How much taxpayer money went into this C-17 that transported the president? Why were Secret Service agents stationed in Pennsylvania, whose security looks disappointing for Donald Trump? Why were Republicans not invited to this event? And how poorly did President Zelensky show up and upset half the American people? Why criticize Donald Trump, who will likely be commander in chief in a few months?”
“Like you said, it was terrible judgment,” he added. “And what I want to know is, why won't he get on his knees and thank the American people, Republicans and Democrats, for the sacrifices that they've made for our country? And how can he come to this country and have an opinion on an election, let alone a presidential election?”
