How Giants’ defense views lack of offensive support

We are concerned about ourselves, thank you very much.

This is how defensive coordinator Shane Bowen responded Thursday to his players' growing frustration with the Giants' lack of scoring on offense.

Last week, Bowen's team held the Bengals 11 points below their season average, but Daniel Jones and company only scored one touchdown in a 17-7 loss to the Bengals.

Through the first six games, the defense has consistently played better than the offense.

“Trust me, there's a lot at home to worry about, I promise,” Bowen said. “There are four plays that really changed the game.'' [the Bengals] What we gave up. Was it a 47-yard scramble? [by Joe Burrow] Or whether it was the third or the 12th, he came out of the pocket. Even if it was a third-and-six, he fought for a first down. So there's a play for us.

“We're always coaching and just worrying and focusing on whether our players are ready and able to play. And again, doing our part and making sure they're ready. Make plays when you're there and find ways to change the game when you have the opportunity to change the game. And you have to generate more turnovers, too. Produce the over and it sets up some things. But believe me, there's plenty to worry about, especially with some of the teams that play every week and the Eagles who play this weekend. What is the team?

Rookie wide receiver Malik Nabors was examined by an independent neurological consultant Thursday afternoon and cleared concussion protocol.

After missing the past two games, he is expected to return Sunday against the Eagles, as long as he stays healthy.

Although he practiced well, groin issues showed up on the injury report.

NT Dexter Lawrence (hip) and DE Brian Burns (groin) missed practice for the second consecutive day.

Both said they will definitely play on Sunday.

“I know they haven't practiced,” Daboll said. “Hopefully we can figure out where they are.” [Friday]. I hope they feel better. ”

CB Adoree Jackson (neck) was added to the injury report and did not practice.

When asked if the Giants would sign a veteran offensive tackle, Daboll said, “That's a possibility.”

Starting LT Andrew Thomas is out for the season after undergoing foot surgery, so the roster is pretty thin at that point.

Greg Joseph replaced the injured Graham Gano as placekicker, but missed the Giants' first field goal attempt.

He then took his next eight kicks, twice to the left from 47 and 45 yards against the Bengals.

Gano isn't ready to return yet, so the Giants are sticking with the 30-year-old veteran.

“He holds himself to a high standard and I hold him to that standard,” special teams coach Michael Ghobrial said. “He knows he wanted to make that kick. The true pro in him, because he's such a great pro, evaluated the film and then made sure something like that never happened again. You will be very deliberate and deliberate in your practice habits.
