Paris Jackson has always been open about her vulnerabilities, but she’s become increasingly candid lately regarding her past struggles with heroin addiction, her emotional breakdowns, and family issues.
Those close to the Jackson family have noted similarities between Paris and her father. Now, five years into her sobriety at age 27, she has recently launched a series of intense legal actions against Michael Jackson’s estate. This has raised concerns among her family that she might slip back into the dark times she’s fought hard to overcome, perhaps adding another somber chapter to her father’s legacy.
A family insider shared with Page Six, “This didn’t seem strategic. It was purely emotional. When Paris gets emotional, that’s when we all get worried. She’s faced so much, and sometimes those past traumas come rushing back.”
The Jackson family has witnessed Paris go through her worst phases, starting when she was barely a teenager. They watched as she struggled, disappearing for days, harming herself, and falling apart after her father’s sudden death due to a drug overdose in 2009.
Following an initial lawsuit against the estate being dismissed, Paris and her legal team have refiled with more comprehensive claims. Her family is upset and suspects she might be receiving negative influence or advice from those around her, mirroring factors that contributed to her father’s downfall.
Back in 2001, the family attempted to intervene with Michael at a hotel in New York after concerns had grown over his behavior during a Hall of Fame induction. Family members noticed he seemed frail and anxious, and fears escalated following his performance at Madison Square Garden later that year.
“He didn’t look well,” recalled a family member. “There were whispers that he was drinking heavily. Was he mixing that with painkillers? Everyone was scared.”
The family pursued intensive group therapy in Malibu as a form of intervention in 2002, but Michael refused to join. Tensions among relatives erupted as past grievances, particularly about their upbringing under patriarch Joe Jackson, resurfaced.
Even at a young age, Paris mirrored many of Michael’s struggles—withdrawal, emotional turmoil, and a tendency to go missing. “She will disappear,” a family member confided. “We always panicked. She’s Michael’s daughter, and there were real safety concerns.”
In June 2013, shortly after Michael’s passing, Paris was hospitalized following a reported overdose, having attempted to take her own life. A source remarked, “It was a train wreck. She would lock herself away and vanish.”
At the time, Michael’s mother, Katherine, was already advanced in age and ill-equipped to manage such crises. “She wasn’t prepared for anything like this,” another insider said.
On several occasions, her brother Prince reached out for help, while their mother Debbie Rowe was summoned multiple times to try persuading Paris to seek support.
Paris exhibited unstable behavior when she started receiving money from real estate ventures, quickly acquiring multiple properties. This led to questions about her financial handling, as one family member quipped about her seemingly reckless purchases.
Recently, Paris intensified her claims against the estate, accusing executors John Branca and John McClain of stalling processes regarding her father’s assets until they could be ruled on in favor of her and her siblings. She claims the estate has been sitting on over $460 million in cash while the executors received hefty fees for themselves.
Record details suggested that in 2021 alone, Branca and McClain collected $8 million in executor fees, sparking concerns about motives. Some insiders worry that outside influences are pressuring her into these actions.
The estate has countered, asserting that all beneficiaries are well cared for and dismissing the claims as misguided attempts by Paris’s legal team.
Additionally, Paris criticized the upcoming biopic about her father, alleging that the executors misused estate funds for a project they aren’t qualified to undertake. While the film’s trailer has generated excitement, suggesting it could become a major box office hit, Paris remains skeptical.
A longtime associate of Michael noted, “It’s surprising Paris is turning against those who helped manage the estate, especially considering the massive debts at his death. It raises questions about the advice she’s receiving.”
Concerns linger about her well-being, with many wanting her to stay on a positive path, fearful that she might revert to darker times.
